Harlem Is...

"Harlem Is…" is a project run by Community Works, a New York City-based nonprofit, in partnership with the Frederick Douglass Academy, a public middle school in Harlem. Students have discovered the rich history of Harlem by identifying, researching and interviewing its local heroes and leaders, and recording their unique stories on digital video. Below are clips from an interview with Joe Cuba, a leading jazz musician who was born and raised in Harlem.
